Beautiful industry

What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?

Industrial scene

I’m not sure whether this is due to my cultural heritage or just me… but I do find myself drawn to traditional crafts and industrial landscapes.

Coming from a working class background and born in the heart of the industrial Black County, I have always been fascinated by skills such as iron work, sign writing, and enamelling, etc.  I remember as a child diligently copying the text off paper bags from local bakeries and getting so much pride from my attempts.

This appreciation has continued throughout my life, and I realise that my morning walks to the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham have helped to crystallise this love.

“Thank you” to my parents and grandparents for providing me with this rich heritage. 💙
