Starbucks…get your caffeine hit and so much more…

During and since COVID lockdown, I have re-discovered my local Starbucks coffee shops and realised that the company seems to have really upped its game in terms of creating happy teams and delivering excellent customer service.

Both our nearest offers in Birmingham (Northfield and Selly Oak) offer a consistently excellent service where customers are made to feel that they belong and are valued.

My latest visit to the Selly Oak cafe, though, was a real game changer… I had intended to have my usual favourite morning snack and had worked out my insulin accordingly, only to discover that the menu had changed that very day.  BUT it wasn’t an issue as the wonderful barista was himself a Type 1 diabetic who proceeded to find out the carb content of what I thought I might like.  All of this was done with little fuss, with the full support of the manager, and within minutes, I had my usual coffee and a new snack to enjoy.

Well done, Starbucks, for a truly value-added service, which made me feel important instead of a problem 👏 Your company really is demonstrating invaluable commitment to its communities – thank you.
