Crumbling Pavlova

I have been told that I have the ability to get people to share details about themselves with me very easily. 

Yet I am still overcome with surprise and thankfulness when conversations with strangers develop quickly into shared understanding and connection.

I had such an interaction today with a lovely couple who appeared a little lost in Birmingham.  I took it upon myself to try to help them locate their destination and in the process was rewarded with a wonderful story of triumph over cancer.

I was told how they were on their way to accept an award from the wonderful charity Macmillan Cancer Research.  The pride with which this was shared was simply beautiful and I felt so honoured to glimpse a little bit of their happiness on such a special day.
