Slowing things down

This amazing post from Diabetes UK clearly demonstrates how far research has taken us since pioneering discoveries made during the 1970s began investigating immunotherapies to slow down the progress of Type 1 diabetes.

Diabetes UK scientists, led by Professor Gianfranco Bottazzo,  have helped to pave the way to the development of medicines, such as Teplizumab, which could help to stop the immune attack and delay or prevent diabetes completely.

There’s still a way to go, but research supported by organisations such as Diabetes UK clearly plays a crucial role in finding that elusive cure – thank you 💙
