Disabling world

What’s a topic or issue about which you’ve changed your mind?

Wheelchair user

It isn’t that I have changed my mind about disability necessarily it’s just that I now understand what it means to be disabled a little better.

Being diagnosed with type 1 diiabetes quite  late in life was hard to accept and very confusing, but I soon learnt that I had to educate and advocate for myself so that I could then ask the right questions and get the best medical support.

I will keep learning and continue to advocate for both myself and others, across the whole spectrum of disability, not just diabetes.

We can never really walk in someone else’s shoes, but we can show understanding and do all we can to make access to a full life possible for everyone. 💙
