Keeping it local

Although I am a fairly recent convert to the world of social media, I have quickly realised the value of connecting with an international community of like-minded people.  From both a personal and professional perspective, reading posts on social media helps to educate and entertain everyone from the very young to the not so young.

Having said this, I would equally encourage everyone to look a little closer to home for both friendship and support.  There is nothing easier than chatting to someone who understands your language and cultural references to help you to feel that you belong and are ‘real’ family.

We have recently experienced a global pandemic, which helped many of us to re- evaluate what and who was important in our life, so let’s not waste this opportunity to re-connect with our local community.  There are plenty of organisations that have both local and national branches, so perhaps start with those to gain new friends and support.

Diabetes UK is an excellent example offering regional groups, and I know that I am personally enjoying the heart-warming posts from Diabetes UK Midlands & East of England on Instagram 💙

Welcome to Crumbling Pavlova, where we hope to encourage an open and honest sharing of what it means to live with diabetes.

We aim to highlight issues which impact on the diabetic community, in the hope of supporting and giving encouragement to help you to believe that you can live a happy and full life.
