Influencing with a purpose

Being a little older than most bloggers, I will freely admit that social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok are a bit of a mystery to me.

Following a few people on LinkedIn, though, has led me to look at these apps in a different light.  The power of influencers really should not be underestimated, as they can be truthful and impactful advocates for the type 1 community.  Using social media creatively enables people of all ages to connect with others globally and to gain knowledge around their condition in an engaging and often lighter way.

Younger members of the diabetic community are using their social media skills and passion to both inform and support others and ultimately help to normalise our lifelong partnership with diiabetes.  Kate Beaulieu, a media student from Toronto, is a shining example of such commitment shown through her LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok posts.  Find Kate on TikTok @sugardrop.co and Instagram @sugardropsweetwear

I am sure that there are other wonderful advocates out there, so let’s make sure we help to get their voices (and videos) heard.
