Book corner#2

Psychologist and diabetic Mark Heyman explains how we don’t simply have to “suck it up” in his empowering and very personal book.

I will admit that it was the title that drew me to this one initially… who could resist  Diabetes Sucks and You Can Handle It? After reading an online review, along with a recent interview with the author by Diatribe.org, I couldn’t wait to delve a little deeper into its pages.

Sharing both his own experience and that of others living with diabetes, Dr Mark highlights the key theme of honesty to enable us to deal with both the physical and mental challenges of living with diabetes.  This is something that really resonates with me, so I am looking forward to reading more and gaining some interesting perspectives on my other full-time job – diabetes management…
