Apologies for the shockingly dodgy title of this post, but I couldn’t resist… who knew that it was possible to transplant insulin producing beta cells into an arm!

Well, that’s exactly what is happening as part of a clinical trial in the US.   The project is being run by the biotech company Minutia, who is working with both the University of California, San Francisco, and Duke University. This pioneering research is yet again supported by the Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge, with results undoubtedly helping to bring us closer  to a cure for Type 1 diabetes.

You can learn more about this amazing research by reading the full News article on the Type1 Diabetes Grand Challenge website.
