Not so phenomenal…

Does anyone else get up in the morning with their BG levels in range, only to see them rise by several numbers within around 20 minutes? I am sure that most of us stay in bed for as long as we possibly can, so we tend to have our breakfast quite soon after stumbling into the kitchen and then getting on with our day. So, my question is, what is this Dawn Phenomenon and do most diabetics experience it? If so, what advice and help is out there to help to deal with this bizarre dawn chorus?

Personally I didn’t know that this rise was a “thing” until I attended a DAFNE online course last year. As someone with a FreeLibre sensor, I know that I give too much attention to my readings which in itself can have an impact on levels, so seeing this regular pattern upon my early morning starts is a little perturbing. I intend to do a little more research, especially within forum posts, to see if there is any way that I can help myself to curtail this rise – or is this something which I just have to accept as one of those things???
